1. Nestled within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), the Fowey Estuary is treasured for its unspoilt natural beauty. The creeks and coves are home to a diversity of wildlife which are protected by a Marine Conservation Zone, which can be explored by boat or SUPs. Steeped in maritime history, the buildings of Fowey tell the tales of its past. The ancient castles at the deep-water entrance once guarded the harbour from Spanish fleets and, in the heart of the town, the towers of the 14th-century St. Fimbarrus Church and 15th-century Place House stand proud.
